Adoptive Mothers Nest Too!

I am nesting.  Sounds crazy I know.  I do not have the hormones that pregnant women experience which are sometimes responsible for "nesting."  But they are not needed.  My body knows that it is "giving birth" to new children.
Nesting is the urge women who are expecting feel before they give birth.  They commonly clean the house from top to bottom, reorganize everything, and prepare the babies room.  Yep, thats happening here.  I am lacking on the cleaning part but I am definitely reorganizing.  Or better yet I am organizing for the first time.  I think some of my nesting is me preparing my home to be empty for four to six weeks.  We are eating what food we have and cleaning out the pantry.  Much to my husbands disapproval the refrigerator is almost empty.  I am trying to get all of my "household business" taken care of.  I know, Heather, the lady who is responsible for things while we are away will be grateful that I get as much done as possible.
I have cleaned out the closets and toy box.  The only thing left to tackle are the kitchen cabinets.  To be honest I probably will avoid this task as much as possible.
Along with preparing the physical environment and adoptive mom must begin to prepare her heart.
My hope is that my nesting means that it is almost time.
She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.  Proverbs 31:27
Please excuse me, I have to go my refrigerator is calling my name.

  1. I am so glad I stumbled on this, and that I am not the only one! My husband and I are adopting a 6-year-old who will be placed with us for good in 18 days..I am NOT a cleaner, but the past few days I cannot stop! My house has never been so spotless! Congratulations and good luck to your family :-)
